Year 2 Administrative Meeting

The 2nd Annual Administrative Meeting provided a forum for the Executive Committee and the Industry Advisory Board to meet and discuss strategic plans for the future of the COE TTHP. The meeting also hosted a business conference allowing the opportunity to individuals across the US and the world to discover our organization and get involved. DAY 1 – November 7, 2017

9:00 – 9:30 am – Introduction and Opening Remarks with Dr. Mark Friend, ERAU, Dr. James Pappas, OU, Mr. Caleb Loss, WSU, Abby Smith, FAA and Karen Callihan, FAA

9:30 – 11:00 am – Strategic Planning Discussion with Dr. Mark Friend

• Continuing though Phase 1, Review of AJI-Strategic Framework and COE TTHP mission statements
  • Goal and objective setting with milestones
  • Review of current projects
  • Prioritization of Year 2 focus for current and new project ideas critical to FAA’s current needs – July 2017 Technical Training Strategy and Roadmap V2.0
• Broadening the scope of the center, in terms of expanding to pilots, engineers, and other FAA areas that the COE TTHP may offer research/expertise

11:30 – 2:00 pm – Task Forces, Affiliate Engagement, and Enhancements to the Proposal process with Dr. James Pappas

• Understanding the Economic Impact/Business Case for Importance of Proposed Research and Innovation
  • Strengthening the business case
  • Documenting impacts and application to practice
  • Enhancing task and timeline information
  • Increasing speed of literature review or best practice guide to focus on (see below)
  • Incorporating more emphasis on prototype/proof-of-concept validation testing
