We’d like to inform you that the Federal Aviation Administration has published four Requests For Information and are currently open for response. Any university or training institution that may have interest regarding training FAA technicians in these key areas are encouraged to respond.
FAA Technical Operations hires 350-550 new System Specialists annually. All new hires complete Technical Operations curricula that provide FAA background information and refreshes students on mathematics, basic electronics, and troubleshooting. Once students complete the new hire curriculum, they then attend their discipline-specific concepts courses before moving on to the associated equipment maintenance courses.
The FAA currently offers the discipline-specific concepts course as Resident Instructor-Led Training. Continuation of training using the current standard is expected to result in increased costs and inefficiencies. As a result, the FAA identified a need to acquire training through existing courses offered by an outside source.
The RFI for the four (4) concept courses are now individually published. The Here’s a direct link to the contracting opportunity website Beta-Sam, which replaced FAACO. The response date for each RFI is noon, 3/17/20.
